Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.
A high-ranking official commented the attack made him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
